The other night, I joined cocktail\nsociety for one of their infamous nights out. Even though it wasn\u2019t a lively\nnight in Aberystwyth it felt like one with them. We started off in Cambrian\nwhere I interviewed one of the social secretaries, Ffion. Here\u2019s what she had\nto say about Cocktail Society:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>

H:<\/b> \u201cWhat is your favourite\ncocktail?\u201d<\/p>

F:<\/b> \u201cProbably a Blue Lagoon, I\u2019ve\ntried it in bar 46, tried it in spoons. It\u2019s tried and tested.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>

H:<\/b> \u201cWhat\u2019s the best thing about Cocktail\nSociety?\u201d<\/p>

F:<\/b> \u201cWe\u2019re just such an inclusive\nsociety, we really try our hardest. Even though we are a cocktail society we\nare constantly promoting sobriety. You know, like with our alcohol awareness\nweeks. Also, if there\u2019s someone who has drunk too much that night, they can\nalways come to us to sober up a bit. I think we are very inclusive and it\u2019s great\nthat you don\u2019t need a certain interest or talent to join our society. You can\nbe any kind of person and have a place Cocktail Society.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>

H<\/b>: \u201cWhat do you do if someone doesn\u2019t\ndrink?\u201d<\/p>

F<\/b>: \u201cWe have a wellbeing officer;\nthey tend to be the more sober in the night. I know a lot of people who don\u2019t\ndrink but still love a night out. We make sure everywhere we go has a mocktail\nor soft drink option. You don\u2019t have to drink. When I was at the fresher\u2019s fair\nso many times, I was like come join cocktail society! And people were like I\ndon\u2019t drink sorry. We really want to put the message out there that you don\u2019t\nhave to. It\u2019s just a chance to get dressed up and go on a night out. Everyone\nloves a bit of fancy dress.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>

H<\/b>: \u201cWhat variety do you have of\npeople joining Cocktail Society?\u201d<\/p>

F<\/b>: \u201cWe do have a big variety, I\nmean no one\u2019s on the same course, it\u2019s a big range. A group of 6 people can\ncome and they don\u2019t study on the same course and they don\u2019t do the same sports\nbut this is a society for all of them. A lot of outgoing people as well,\nalthough even if people aren\u2019t outgoing, we would encourage them to come along,\nI\u2019m sure they\u2019d still have fun. Last week we had 4 girls show up and they were\nin Aber for the week, I think they were in some sort of uni programme, they\nwere from Ukraine so they were just here for a week and then moving on. They\ncame because they heard of some pyjama party and thought yeah, we\u2019ll come\nalong! Honestly, we welcome anyone and everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>

H<\/b>: \u201cWhat kind of person would you\nencourage to join cocktail society?\u201d<\/p>

F<\/b>: \u201cIf you love a night out then\ncome along. Even if you don\u2019t want to come along to our Tuesday socials we have\na lot of things during the day, even if you\u2019re busy on a night come along to a\ncoffee morning or a wellbeing walk. It\u2019s a great way to meet new people.\u201d<\/p>\n

H<\/b>: \u201cYeah, you seem really friendly.\u201d<\/p>

F<\/b>: \u201cThank you! I\u2019ve made so many\nfriends through cocktail society and I know a lot of other people have as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>

It is true, there is a large\nvariety of people in the society. That came through in the fancy dress they\nchose. The theme for the night was, \u2018British icons\u2019 and there were the likes of\nDavid Attenborough, Naomi Campbell and Boris Johnson. There were Geography\nStudents, Business students, English students and loads more. Everyone seemed\nto gel together with the basic aim of having a good night.<\/p>\n

We managed to hit many Aber\nclassics. Even stopping at <\/span>Y Ba\u00f1era, which cocktail society goes to every other\nweek, for a fancier drink. After we went to Harleys. It was practically empty\nbut that did not stop cocktail society\u2019s quest for a good night. They marched\non and begun a dance battle between two members. We finished the night in\nAcademy where Cocktail society occasionally has cocktail making demos. When I\nleft at a very respectable time of midnight, all of them were still in high\nspirits, dancing and laughing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>

I would say if you\u2019re thinking about joining cocktail society\nyou should go for it if you like a night out and want to meet some friendly\nfaces who will be the first ones on the dance floor.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Noson allan\nefo Cymdeithas Coctel<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Y noson o\u2019r\nblaen, ymunais efo Cymdeithas coctel am un o\u2019u nosweithiau allan gwaradwyddus.\nEr and oedd yn noson bywiog yn Aberystwyth teimlodd fel un efo nhw. Dechreuon\nni yn y Cambrian lle cafodd un o\u2019u Ysgrifenyddion Cymdeithasol, Ffion, eu\ncyfweld. Dyma oedd ganddi i ddweud am y Gymdeithas Coctel.<\/p>\n

F<\/strong>: \u201cYn fwy na\nthebyg, \u2018Blue lagoon\u2019, rwyf wedi ei drio yn Bar 46, wedi ei drio yn \u2018Spoons\u2019.\nMae wedi\u2019i drio a phrofi.\u201d<\/p>\n

H<\/strong>: \u201cBeth yw\u2019r peth\ngorau am y Gymdeithas Coctel?\u201d<\/span> <\/p>

F<\/strong>: \u201cCymdeithas mor\ngymhwysol ydym ni, rydym ni\u2019n trio ein gorau. Er bod ni\u2019n gymdeithas coctel\nrydym ni\u2019n hyrwyddo sobrwydd yn gyson. Chi\u2019n gweld, fel efo\u2019n wythnosau\nymwybyddiaeth o alcohol. Hefyd, os oes rhywun sydd wedi yfed gormod ar yr noson\nhonno, maen nhw\u2019n gallu dod atom ni i sobri tipyn bach. Credaf ein bod ni\u2019n\ngymhwysol iawn ac mae\u2019n wych eich bod chi ddim angen diddordebau na thalentau\npenodol i ymuno \u00e2\u2019n cymdeithas. Gallech chi fod yn unrhyw math o berson a chael\nlle yn Cymdeithas Coctel.\u201d<\/p>\n

H<\/b>: \u201cBeth ydych chi\u2019n\nei wneud os nad yw rhywun yn yfed?\u201d<\/span> <\/p>

F<\/b>: \u201cMae gennym ni\nSwyddog Lles; maen nhw\u2019n tueddu i fod y mwyaf sobr yn y nos. Rydw i\u2019n nabod\nllawer o bobl sydd ddim yn yfed ond sy\u2019n caru noson allan. Rydym ni\u2019n gwneud yn\nsi\u0175r bod pob man rydyn ni\u2019n mynd iddo yn cynnig opsiwn moctel neu ddiodydd\nmeddal. Does dim rhaid i chi yfed. Pan roeddwn i\u2019n y ffair glasfyfyrwyr,\ncymaint o weithiau, bydda\u2019 i fel dewch i ymuno \u00e2\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel! A fe fydd\npobl yn dweud dydw i ddim yn yfed sori. Rydyn ni eisiau rhoi\u2019r neges allan bod\ndim rhaid. Mae ond yn gyfle i wisgo i fyny a mynd am noson allan. Mae pawb yn caru\nbach o wisg ffansi.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

H<\/strong>: \u201cPa fath o\namrywiaeth o bobl sydd gennych chi yn ymuno \u00e2\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel?\u201d<\/span>

F<\/strong>: \u201cMae gennym ni\namrywiaeth fawr, rwy\u2019n golygu and oes unrhyw un ar yr un cwrs, mae\u2019n amrediad\nmawr. Gall grwp o 6 o bobl ddod a dydyn nhw ddim yn astudio\u2019r un cwrs a dydyn\nnhw ddim yn gwneud yr un chwaraeon ond mae hon yn gymdeithas iddyn nhw i gyd.\nMae na lawer o bobl ymadawol hefyd, er, hyd yn oed os nad yw rhywun yn\nymadawol, bydden ni\u2019n eu hannog nhw i ddod, dwi\u2019n si\u0175r bydden nhw\u2019n dal yn cael\nhwyl. Yr wythnos ddiwethaf cafon ni 4 merch yn cyrraedd a roedden nhw yn Aber\nam wythnos, credaf eu bod nhw mewn rhyw fath o raglen prifysgol, daethon nhw o\nWcrain ac felly roedden nhw ond yma am wythnos ac wedyn yn symud ymlaen.\nRoedden nhw\u2019n dod achos clywon nhw am ryw fath o barti pyjama ac yn meddwl ie,\nbydden ni\u2019n dod! Onest, rydym ni\u2019n croesawu pawb a\u2019i gi.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

H<\/strong>: \u201cPa fath o berson\nbyddech chi\u2019n annog i ymuno \u00e2\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel?\u201d<\/span> <\/p>

F<\/strong>: \u201cOs ydych chi\u2019n\ncaru noson allan, yna dewch. Hyd yn oed os dydych chi ddim eisiau dod i\u2019n digwyddiad\ncymdeithasol ar ddydd Mawrth, mae gennym ni lawer o bethau yn ystod y dydd, hyd\nyn oed os ydych chi\u2019n brysur ar noson allan dewch i fore coffi neu daith\ngerdded lles. Mae\u2019n ffordd wych o gwrdd \u00e2 phobl Newydd.\u201d<\/p>\n

H<\/strong>: \u201cRwyt ti\u2019n dod ar\ndraws yn gyfeillgar iawn.\u201d<\/span> <\/p>

F<\/strong>: \u201cDiolch! Rydw i\nwedi gwneud cymaint o ffrindiau newydd trwy\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel a dwi\u2019n gwybod\nbod cymaint o bobl eraill wedi hefyd.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mae\u2019n wir,\nmae yna amrywiaeth o bobl yn y gymdeithas, a oedd yn dod mewn gwisg ffansi a\noedden nhw\u2019n dewis y thema am y noson ac oedd \u2018Eiconau Prydeinig\u2019 ac yr oedd\ncyffelyb o David Attenborough, Naiomi Campbell a Boris Johnson. Roedd yna\nfyfyrwyr Daearyddiaeth, myfyrwyr Busnes, myfyrwyr Saesneg a llawer mwy. Roedd\npawb yn ymddangos i gyd-fynd gyda\u2019r nod sylfaenol o gael noson dda.<\/p>\n

<\/p>

Roedden\nni\u2019n llwyddo i daro nifer o glasuron. Hyd yn oed yn stopio yn Y Banera, lle\nmae\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel yn galw draw pob yn ail wythnos, am ddiod mwy ffansi.\nAr \u00f4l i ni fynd i Harley\u2019s. Roedd e bron yn wag ond nid oedd hynny\u2019n stopio\ncwest Cymdeithas Coctel am noson dda. Aethon nhw ymlaen a dechreuon nhw frwydr\nddawns rhwng dau aelod. Gorffennon ni\u2019r noson yn yr Academi lle mae\u2019r\nGymdeithas Coctel weithiau yn cynnal gweithdai creu coctel. Pan adawais i ar yr\namser parchus iawn tua chanol nos, roedd pawb yn dal mewn ysbrydion uchel, yn\ndawnsio ac yn chwerthin. Byddaf yn dweud os ydych chi\u2019n meddwl am ymuno\n\u00e2\u2019r Gymdeithas Coctel dylech chi fynd amdani os ydych chi\u2019n hoffi noson allan\nac eisiau cwrdd \u00e2 gwynebau cyfeillgar a fydd y cyntaf ar y llawr dawnsio.<\/p>
